The nature reserve covers the southern slopes of the Sierra Morena north of Montoro. The further west you go, the more rugged the landscape becomes, gashed by ravines. Holm oaks predominate, alongside arbutus (strawberry trees), while some areas have been replanted with pines. The area is home to a variety of animals, including lynx, otter, wild boar, genet and deer. You can explore the reserve along the many waymarked paths.
