Tucked away in the countryside on the banks of the Sho River, this onsen (ryokan with a thermal spring) can only be reached by boat. The spring's healing properties have been known since the 16C, although the current building dates from 1931. It provides a pleasant stopping place for lunch and you can enjoy the indoor or outdoor baths and even spend the night in one of the peaceful traditional Japanese bedrooms. 100% authentic!
