In the 19C, Coney Island was an elegant resort that attracted city dwellers, who came to enjoy the ocean air at the southern tip of Brooklyn. Today, Coney Island's beach has a boardwalk that stretches more than 5km and right next to the beach is Luna Park: this amusement park may be a little dated, but with its roller coaster, Ferris wheel, rides and candy floss stands, it remains popular with families. The New York Aquarium is also worth a visit.
