North of Manhattan, the Bronx is the only borough in New York City that is not on an island. For a New Yorker, the neighbourhood is first and foremost home of the Yankees, the team of baseball legends, Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio. Although you might not want to wander aimlessly around this reputedly tough and dangerous borough, you can visit its zoo and botanical garden. Soak up the Italian atmosphere of the great era, which Downtown's Little Italy has lost.
