Rakiura National Park covers over 80% of Stewart Island, providing a good reason to brave the turbulent crossing of the Foveaux Strait. At the outer reaches of New Zealand, the island attracts hikers and bird-watchers, who come to observe kiwis and large flying birds, dolphins and sea lions.
