This sport is practised on courts called plantiers with a 6.2kg/13.2lbs ball and nine 96cm/38"-high skittles. Considered to be the ancestor of bowling, it is played in the Landes and the Pyrenees. If you are intrigued, stop by the Plantier de Pau on an afternoon.
