The Cité district in Périgueux is the site of the old Roman city of Vesunna, where many Gallo-Roman ruins can still be admired, including the amphitheatre, the Porte Normande and the domus housed in the Musée Vésunna next to the Vésone tower. Wide streets in the district, such as the Boulevard de Vésone, are lined with Second Empire-style façades.
