Beschrijving
The peristyle decorated with Mercury, accompanied by a peacock, snakes and fine foliage leads into a cryptoportico, a large underground corridor decorated with frescoes and a frieze illustrating the history of Troy. In honour of Roman villas, it was a place for exercise, sheltered from the sun and bad weather, and also functioned as a cellar.
