A rich businessman, F.A. Juselius, had this monument built in memory of his daughter Sigrid, who died in 1898 at the age of eleven. He commissioned Gallen-Kallela to decorate the interior with frescoes (1901-1903), but humidity and later a fire destroyed virtually the entire work. The artist's daughter, Jorma, spent six years from 1933 recreating her father's masterpiece which, thanks to her, can still be enjoyed today.
