This extensive quadrilateral monastery with large towers at each of its four corners was built on a rocky outcrop which gave it its prominent position in the centre of the village. It is occupied by monks from the Order of Mercy and dedicated to the Virgin who was patron saint of the kingdom of Valencia. The rest of the buildings are dedicated to cultural activities organised by the Generalitat, the government of the Valencian autonomous community.
