Closed to the west and north by Point Loma peninsula, Coronado Island, the second headland attached to the mainland by a narrow spit of sand, are both located on San Diego Bay. Exclusive and residential, Coronado Island is also the site of a military base and is very well known for Hotel Del Coronado.
