Peter the Great had the narrow Winter Canal dug out to connect the Moyka and the Neva. It is spanned by three bridges. The last one before the Neva, known as the Hermitage Bridge, is topped by a covered gallery linking the Old Hermitage to the Hermitage Theatre.The view from here is the most "Venetian" one in St. Petersburg.
