La Palma is also dubbed "Beautiful Island" or "Green Island" on account of its lush woodland comprising wild laurel, pines and banana trees. Its tallest peak reaches 2 396m, at El Roque de los Muchachos. The natural beauty of the island is most in evidence at the Caldera de Taburiente.
