This citadel stands on the top of Ayosoluk Hill, affording bird's eye views of the surrounding landscapes that separate the town from the sea. Its ramparts, bristling with twenty towers, have been rebuilt using stones pillaged from the neighbouring ancient city of Ephesus, which is also the case of the Gate of Persecution, leading to the site.
