This cliff, "where the land ends and the sea begins" (Camões), is the westernmost point of continental Europe. The Serra de Sintra finishes here in a steep cliff looking down on the ocean from a height of 140m. Cabo da Roca means "cape of the rock" and you can see the coast to the north indented with many coves.
