Beschrijving
The basilica, built in the Byzantine style on the site of the martyrdom of Santa Lucia, was given its current appearance in the 15C and 16C. A gallery leads to the Cappella del Sepolcro, a small octagonal building by Vermexio that was added in 1630 to house the tomb, which was left empty after Giorgio Maniace had the remains transferred from it to Byzantium in the 11C. The chapel leads to the catacombs.
