The historic town and its narrow lanes sloping down to the river and lined in tall houses, some of which are linked by andrones (steep, often arched ramps) is wedged between the shopping Rue Droite and the banks of the Durance. Many of the houses still sport their elegant, carved 16, 17 and 18C doors.
