Srebarna Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, consists of a freshwater lake (600ha), linked to the Danube. It provides shelter to over 100 species of birds and a host of migratory birds. Birdwatching enthusiasts who wish to visit the reserve must apply to the Natural History Museum in the village.
