Kreisker Chapel owes its fame to its 78m-high granite belltower. Inspired by that of St-Pierre de Caen, it was higher than its model and sparked the admiration of Vauban. The upper section with its spire is Norman in style while the lower portion, depicted by a fretwork of mullions and the balustrade of its overhanging balcony, is emblematic of the English Perpendicular style, renowned for its verticality.
