In the northwest of the prefecture, this section of Toyama Bay reveals a breathtaking landscape with the snow-capped peaks of Tateyama range, part of the Japanese Alps, in the background, and a sandy coastline dotted with jagged rocks and lined by pine trees in the foreground. Mentioned in the Manyoshu collection of poems (7-8C), the site is also depicted in a story related to the heroic figure Minamoto no Yoshitsune (12C), who is said to have found refuge here.
