Casa Loma (1914) was the lavish 98-room residence of industry magnate, Sir Henry Pellatt and is now a popular tourist attraction. A boggling mixture of medieval manor and Hollywood filmset, it boasts no less than 21 fireplaces, a central hall 22m/72ft high, a greenhouse with marble flooring, a library with 10,000 books, secret passageways, an underground tunnel, an indoor swimming pool, 52 telephones, an elevator and no end of other luxury fixtures and fittings that money could buy in the early 20C.
