Beschrijving
This district to the south of the town of Toyama prospered during the Edo period thanks to the silk trade. It is renowned for the Yatsuo Hikiyama Festival of floats (May 3) and for its dance and music festival, Owara Kaze no Bon, (Sep 1-3), in which all the inhabitants take part, together with some 200,000 visitors every year. Suwamachi Street with its traditional houses and shops is evocative of the Edo period and ideal for a leisurely stroll.
