The prince's winter palace was begun by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach from 1695 to 1698 and completed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt in 1724. Behind its façade of ordered Ionic pilasters, entablature decorated with statues and bas-reliefs, is a renovated interior courtyard and ceremonial staircase, one of the most characteristic of Baroque art. The lavishly decorated apartments host the Ministry of Finance.
