The Parliament building (1873-1883) is the work of architect Theophil Hansen who designed the building as a homage to Ancient Greece, the cradle of democracy. The interior is richly decorated. The vestibule, colonnaded hall, reception hall, budget hall and plenary room are adorned with columns, statues, stuccowork and paintings recalling the Empire, the Republic and civic values.
