Planted with 90 lime trees and embellished by a fountain, this hilltop esplanade overlooks the River Limmat, where stood the Celtic and Roman settlements that evolved into Zurich. From the terrace there is a view of the old town on the right bank; opposite stand the federal polytechnic (long green sandstone building) on the left and the cathedral (Grossmünster) on the right.
