Zvíkov Castle, which stretches along a rocky outcrop overlooking the confluence of the Vltava and the Otava, has retained much of its atmosphere from its glorious medieval period. Protected by the Písek Gate and a lofty defensive tower with a conical roof, it boasts some delightful architectural features, such as the inner arcaded courtyard. However, the highlight of the visit is without doubt the chapel, where you can admire murals from the late 15C, among other details.
