Beschrijving
The Sacred Gate was built in the 5C BC. It opened onto the Sacred Way leading to Eleusis. Parallel to the Sacred Way was the road to the Academy, which ended at the Dipylon, a gate with a tower on either side, which constituted the main entrance to Athens.
