The pedestrian "Prince Michael Street" (Ulica Knez Mihailova) is one of the prettiest in Belgrade and a throwback to Serbia's bygone splendour. Now the main shopping street, it is lined by mansions that are real gems of neo-Renaissance style. It is also home to many institutions, such as the Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Municipal Library and the Belgrade Cultural Centre.
