Exploration of Büyük Ada, whether undertaken on foot, by mountain bike or in a horse-drawn carriage, has a few lovely surprises in store: very fine yalı in the residential district to the right of the wharf; St George's Monastery with its magnificent views; the Monastery of St Nicholas, and the small island of Sedef, a small private paradise accessible by boat.
