Beschrijving
Pedestrianised Republic Street is Valletta's main thoroughfare. It leads from the edge of the city to Fort St Elmo, taking in, among other buildings, two of the city's most important monuments, St John's Co-Cathedral and the Grand Master's Palace. Before that you'll have seen two fortifications: St James Cavalier, a very fine and broad 16C tower that has been converted into a cultural centre, and St John Cavalier, an immense bastion that still belongs to the Order of St John.
