You cannot miss the forest of buildings and upturned roofs of Osaka Castle. Yet everything about this picture postcard snapshot is new. Nothing remains of the original castle built by Shogun Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583, except its massive foundations. The rest was destroyed and rebuilt countless times. The current keep dates from 1930 and was retouched in 1997. Inside there is a weapons museum (sabres) and documents recording the life of the Shogun. From the top enjoy a sweeping view over Osaka.
